SC Veteran FIRED for Telling Kerry True Story

The courage of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, more than any other single organization, brought the truth of John Kerry's military record to the American People. Now, we find out that one of the men on Kerry's boat who dared to speak out, a citizen of South Carolina, is being punished for doing so. Folks, this is an OUTRAGE! I usually don't reprint an entire article, but this one needs to be read in full. Let's take action!

Here's an excerpt from the Chicago Sun Times:

"This is the story of a military veteran whistleblower. He spoke out against someone he thought was dangerous for the nation, talked to local newspapers, and appeared on talk shows. In return, he was vilified by reporters, threatened by a political operative, fired by his company, and now he's broke.

His name is Steve Gardner. He's also known as 'The 10th Brother,' as in Band of Brothers. He's one of two members of Sen. John Kerry's 12 Vietnam swift boat crew members who refused to stand with Kerry at the Democratic Convention. The other man remained silent.
'They said I had a political agenda. I had no and have no political agenda whatsoever. I saw John Kerry on television saying he was running for the Democratic nomination for president, and I knew I couldn't ever see him as commander in chief -- not after what I saw in Vietnam, not after the lies I heard him tell about what he says he did and what he says others did.'

Gardner explains he was sitting at home in Clover, S.C., when he first saw Kerry on television. It was before the primary races. For 35 years, Gardner says, he hadn't talked about his tour of duty in Vietnam. But when he saw Kerry talking about running, he says he got up, called the newspaper in town, called radio stations and 'talked to anyone I could about why this man should never be president.' Eventually he got a call from Adm. Roy Huffman, who had been in charge of the coastal division in Vietnam, reunited with other swift boat veterans, and the rest is, as they say, history.

And, even though Gardner is broke and jobless for speaking out, the husband and father of three says he'd do it all over again. He says it wasn't for politics. It was for America. "

Volunteers Needed ASAP

We REALLY need volunteers for the Bluffton town elections that will be held Dec. 7th. Although most of you probably don't live in the town of Bluffton, we all need to help each other with events such as this. Volunteers are even coming down from Sun City, so let's please have some Greater Blufftonians and even Hilton Headers help out, too! Thank you.
This is also a non-partisan event; we are just supporting the best people for the job:)
Please call Sherri Zedd to let her know the date & time you can help - even if only an hour or two. Her # is 705 6440 and cell 368 6775. All of the events will be held at Bill Herbkersman's office on Calhoun Street.

On Monday, at 2PM volunteers are needed to stamp postcards to be sent out for Lisa Sulka who is running for Bluffton Town Council.

On Wednesday, at 10:30, volunteers are needed to put 2 inserts in an envelope, stamp & seal, for Hank Johnson who is running for re-election as Bluffton's Mayor.

On Friday, at 10:30, volunteers are needed to seal & address envelopes for Oscar Fraser who is running for Bluffton Town Council.

On Saturday, volunteers are needed for short shifts all day from 10-4:30 to make calls from Bill H's offices to remind Blufftonians to vote on the 7th.

Please take advantage of this opportunity for Community Service. Your help is much appreciated.

If you know a young woman with political or public policy aspirations, the "Great American Conservative Women Calendar" from the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute would make a great holiday gift. It's an excellent reminder of all the talented women contributing to the success of the conservative cause.

Socialists in Congress

Jim Lee sent me this as an addition to the 'such graceful losers" email I sent out recently. I knew their thought processes ran in this direction, but I was not aware the connection between certain members of Congress and the Socialist Party in the USA is this blatant. uh-oh, I think I feel a cause coming on...

Democratic Socialists of America's Progressive Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives

Taken verbatim from the Internet web site of the Democratic Socialists of America

"The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International (also in Francais and Espanol). DSA's members are building progressive movements for social change while establishing an openly socialist presence in American communities and politics...

"We invite you to support the campaign by adding your name to the list of signers of the Pledge for Economic Justice. In conjunction with the Campaign DSA is working with the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a network of more than 50 progressive members of the US House of Representatives...

"The Progressive Caucus of the US House of Representatives is made up of 58 members of the House. The Caucus works to advance economic and social justice through sponsoring legislation that reflects its purpose. The Caucus also works with a coalition of organizations, called the Progressive Challenge, to bring new life to the progressive voice in US politics."

Part Two

As predicted, they will try to infiltrate us from the inside

As predicted, they will try to infiltrate us from the inside...I sent this out a couple of weeks ago but thought it merited posting here. Jim's comment to: "Election 2004:Not Over Yet" reminded me of this. There will be a part 2.
Taken verbatim from the Internet web site of the Democratic Socialists of America:
"The Progressive Caucus of the US House of Representatives is made up of 58 members of the House. The Caucus works to advance economic and social justice through sponsoring legislation that reflects its purpose. The Caucus also works with a coalition of organizations, called the Progressive Challenge, to bring new life to the progressive voice in US politics.
http://www.fpif.org/gaa/progressive_challenge_body.html
Progressive Challenge
Since January, the Institute for Policy Studies together with 60 other organizations (including the Interhemispheric Resource Center), is sponsoring weekly "Progressive Challenge" briefing sessions with Members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and their staffers. Topics have included defense and intelligence issues, jobs and wages, social security, welfare reform, civil rights, corporate responsibility, health care reform, campaign finance reform, tax policy, international trade, globalization, sustainable communities and other issues. Working Groups have formed following these sessions to help build broader educational and advocacy campaigns, as well as to propose alternative legislative solutions.This collaborative project, dubbed the "Progressive Challenge," has been highly successful in both regenerating and energizing the Progressive Caucus within the House of Representatives (the Caucus now has 58 members), and in forging closer links between House members and staffers and Progressive organizations.The weekly briefing sessions have now stopped for the summer and will resume in September. We plan to spend the summer refining a "Fairness Agenda for America" and to present this agenda publicly on the steps of the Capitol in the fall. We also plan to hold a training school for local and state Progressive candidates at that time.The draft "Fairness Agenda" includes 8 broad points:Enact a Fairness Budget for America;Ensure Jobs and worker Rights for All;Promote a Just and Sustainable Global Economy;Fight for Equity for All;Promote a Foreign Policy which includes Demilitarization, Human Rights and a New Internationalism;Fight for Sustainable Communities and Environmental Justice;Make Social Investment a Priority; andGet Money out of Politics."

Decent Cartoon...

There's actually a pretty funny cartoon on the editorial page of the Packet Fishwrap today. Of course it is "balanced" by the idiot letter to the editor, which begins something like "NBC News reports that" and then goes on the quote it as Gospel...I may have to write in & set the poor bloke straight

I posted a thanksgiving message on my personal blog: http://mikesamerica.blogspot.com/

I encourage comments to posts. Some folks are apparently unsure how to do this. It does require you select a username and password. It's NOT asking for your bank account, just a logon identifier. The site will also issue "cookies" to identify you when you return. I have more cookies on my computer than most bakeries and never had a problem.

Click on the "comments" link at the bottom of each post to comment.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Election 2004: Still Not Over

CBS News | Election 2004: Still Not Over | November 24, 2004 | 15:06:00 Rather's career is, though. Unfortunately, the Gore way of doing things is still going strong. What you don't hear about is... well, this on the national news outlets. I'll just be glad when Bush is sworn in again because after that it will take a little more than a fat white guy (michael moore) to stir the pot for another couple of years. If only people like him used their constructive efforts to support what is good and right in this country.

I was just going thru some sites created to support our men and women overseas in Afganistan and Iraq. Bring your hankeys and your smiles. The troops are doing a bang up job. Take a look at a couple of these sites. Some have photos and letters. God Bless them all.

On a negative note, take a look at this site. Just in case we thought those so called 911 Families had gone away. Remember them at the 911 Commission hearings? They're still here and working hard against America.

Boy Scouts Under Attack: Help Defend Them!

Please find below an important message from RightMarch.com, the conservative Web site leading the charge for "Patriotism in Action." They have some important information to share with you regarding the outrageous attempt by the ACLU to ban the Boy Scouts from military bases.

Thank you.

NewsMax.com

Boy Scouts Under Attack: Help Defend Them!

ALERT: Remember when the radical leftists at the American Civil Liberties Union took their case against the Boy Scouts all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, to try to force them to accept homosexual scoutmasters?

Remember watching as one by one, the ACLU got cities and companies to withdraw their support for the Boy Scouts because of their insistence on their members holding a belief in God?

Once again, the Boy Scouts are under ATTACK by the ACLU -- and this time, it looks like the ACLU is going to WIN... unless WE do something to stop them!

So, once again, RightMarch.com is taking the lead by taking out a NATIOWIDE full-page ad in support of the Boy Scouts, and rallying patriotic Americans across the country to DEMAND a reversal of the outrageous settlement with the ACLU. Can YOU help us to pay for this bold nationwide ad?

https://secure.cartlight.com/merchant/rightmarch/?afid=max

Last week, the U.S. Department of Defense settled with the ACLU to ban military bases from sponsoring the Boy Scouts of America. But, as noted in a WorldNetDaily column by Hans Zeiger, a student at Hillsdale College and the president of the Scout Honor Coalition, "The American military cannot survive the challenges of the 21st century without the preparatory support of the Boy Scouts of America."

Millions of our bravest heroes in uniform -- thousands who have given their lives in every war since World War I -- wore their first uniform as a Boy Scout. "A U.S. Marine now in Iraq, who also was my Scoutmaster when I was growing up, once told me that he became a Marine because he had first been a Scout," said Zeiger.

Apparently seeking the annihilation of our nation's defensive capacity along with its moral character, the ACLU announced last week that U.S. military bases will no longer be able to sponsor Boy Scout troops. It seems that our nation's military leadership has broken wartime policy to settle with the terrorists in the ACLU.

It is the Boy Scout Oath to which the ACLU responded by filing legal claims against the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Chicago Board of Education in 1999. "On my honor," goes the Oath, "I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, and to obey the Scout Law, to help other people at all times, to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight."

Wow. What a radically subversive oath. How has our country survived all these years with the Boy Scouts reciting something like that?

Do you see how RIDICULOUS this lawsuit by the ACLU has been -- and how OUTRAGEOUS it is that the Defense Department agreed to their demands?

We need to take out a FULL PAGE ad nationwide NOW, demanding that Defense reverse this terrible settlement, and urging Americans everywhere to stand up for the Boy Scouts. Can you help us pay for this NATIONWIDE ad?

https://secure.cartlight.com/merchant/rightmarch/?afid=max

Following its new settlement with the ACLU, the Department of Defense will be sending word to American military bases worldwide that sponsorship of the Boy Scouts is strictly prohibited. Though Boy Scouts -- primarily the children of service members -- have long met on military bases in association with a base sponsor, the days of political correctness have brought that arrangement to an end.

And this is the George W. Bush / Donald Rumsfeld Department of Defense that we're talking about!

Like an array of private organizations that, of necessity, have dealings with our nation's armed forces, the Boy Scouts adhere to beliefs and practices that fall outside the sanction of public policy. No one on our nation's military bases is coerced into supporting the Boy Scouts.

But we're willing to bet that members of our armed forces hold the Scouts in much higher esteem than they do the ACLU.

TAKE ACTION: The Department of Defense cannot expect to win wars abroad if it is capitulating to the demands of political correctness at home. Our armed forces must be aligned with the standards of character that make America worth fighting for.

We MUST take a stand for what is RIGHT -- so once again, RightMarch.com is stepping up to the plate and taking out a NATIONWIDE full-page ad to rally the support of patriotic Americans across this great country, and DEMAND that President Bush and Secretary Rumsfeld do EVERYTHING possible to reverse last week's settlement with the ACLU.

With the generous support of our members, we've taken out a number of full-page ads across the nation in the past, in widely-circulated papers like USA Today and the Washington Times National Weekly Edition. And we're YOUR help, we're ready to do it again!

We can't let this outrageous challenge to an American institution like the Boy Scouts go unanswered. Please help us TODAY with your best contribution toward our FULL PAGE nationwide ad. Click here to donate today:

NOTE: Yes, the Boy Scouts do insist on belief in God. Over the years since the Boy Scouts of America was founded, several hundred atheists have been told that they could not serve in positions of Scout leadership. Is this inconsistent with the principles by which our nation's military and government operate?

Hans Zeiger notes that "just because military bases sponsor Scout troops doesn't make those troops an extension of government. Thousands of police and fire departments, cities and schools also sponsor Boy Scout troops. The Boy Scouts remain a private organization -- a partnership with government does not automatically render an organization public domain."

It's also worth noting that our nation's military itself administers an Oath of Military Service to new members of the armed forces, that, like the Presidential, Congressional, and Supreme Court Oaths of Office, concludes with the words, "So help me God." In fact, all high-ranking government officers must swear an oath in accordance with Section 3331 of Title V of the U.S. Code that includes that little invocation to the Almighty.

Expect the ACLU to come after THEM, too. These radicals MUST be stopped. Please help today. Thank you!

Be sure to forward this Alert to EVERYONE you know who wants to help take a stand for what is RIGHT and support the Boy Scouts of America against their attacks by the ACLU. Thank you!

Message to The Left - submitted by Caroline Jenkins

I know the election is over but this covers the waterfront. Too bad so few will take the writer's advice, as good as it is.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Memo to the Left:
To Michael Moore: Sit down and shut up... And do something about your hair. And the ball cap.
To Jimmy Carter: big mistake to sit down and shut up next to Michael Moore at the convention. Spend more time with drywall and the glue gun.
To Tom Daschle: If you lean too far to the left, voters will tend to lean right for a while, but will eventually push you out of the boat.
To Al Gore: Please, sir, before it's too late ... Seek an experienced mental health professional. You're beginning to make Christopher Lloyd in "Back To The Future" look downright Rotarian-like.
To Dan Rather: Enjoy your early retirement. The next memo you get will be real.
To the DNC: Your platform must not have lurched far enough to the left. Keep it tilting southpaw. Read more Marx. P.S. Keep insulting the voters with your moral and intellectual condescension too. It goes well with that warp speed registering of folks in plaid wool blankets pushing shopping carts. Lovely constituency.
To Bill Clinton: Thanks for hitting the campaign trail for Kerry. Some of us needed a reminder of what we were trying to avoid.
To Hillary Clinton: PLEASE run in '08. The Heartland will be hungry for more hors d'oeuvres by then.
To the MTV Kidz: Vote or die - or not. Like, whatever, dude.
To John "Breck Girl" Edwards: Can you help Michael Moore and Whoopi Goldberg with a little basic grooming?
To Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, Bono, etc.: We still like your music, but if you ever want to sell another record, just sing and don't go where you don't know. We don't pay to hear Colin Powell or Condie Rice do air guitar either.
To George Soros: Want to buy an election? Not in *MY* America, you monomaniacal, socialistic buffoon.
To the Mainstream Media: Congratulations on getting Kerry at least thirty more electoral votes than he would have gotten without your covert support. Imagine how badly he would have lost if you were actually unbiased.
To the United Nations: Your worst nightmare will continue for another four years. Deal with it.
To Howard "I Have A Scream" Dean: stick with something you understand; like proctology for instance.
To Richard Holbrooke: learn to tell a joke. Learn to laugh at one. Gawd.
To John Zogby: monster.com will post your resume.
To Maureen Dowd, Paul Krugman, Robert Scheer, and your minor league imitators, Greg Plast and Mark Morford: you have no red states readers.
To Teddy Kennedy: sigh, it's still the blonde in the pond that leads your highlight reel.
To Ron Reagan "Junior:" Do you have talent for anything? Nexxxxxxxxxxxxxxt ...?
To the Exit Pollsters: As long as you keep skewing the results in an attempt to influence the election, we'll keep lying to you. If you quit, so will we. Deal?
To Osama bin Laden: Bring it on, you sonofabitch, What's that? The only attack you can muster now is on videotape? Hmm... No surprise there, I guess.
To Teresa HEINZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Kerry: teaching is a real job. The Teachers Union, who supported your husband, can clarify any continuing confusion. Oh, and it's not a "real job" to sleep with a third generation ketchup heir and then cash the plane crash check.
To the European Union: See message for Michael Moore.
To Terry McAuliffe: See message for Dan Rather. And pay a little attention to what Zell Miller reminds us of: 20 Democratic senators from the south in 1960 and only six from the GOP. Today, 22 Republicans and four Dems.
To MoveOn.org: See message for George Soros
To James Carville: you're the only guy who seems to get it; and you're very smart. Good luck finding an audience that's neither medicated nor mendacious.
And finally, to John Kerry: Thank you for reporting for duty. You are hereby dismissed
From Leslie Ishije
Just a reminder-
The next Young Republican meeting is this Tuesday, November 23
at Sol y Luna (formally Mi Tierra) at 7:00pm in Beaufort.
We will be having club elections.
This story is from Jim Lee
This is one story of many that people normally don't hear, and one that
everyone does.
This is just one most don't hear: A young Marine and his cover man
cautiously enter a room just recently filled with insurgents armed with
Ak-47's and RPG's. There are three dead, another wailing in pain. The
insurgent can be heard saying, "Mister, mister! Diktoor, diktoor(doctor)!" He
is badly wounded, lying in a pool of his own blood. The Marine and his cover
man slowly walk toward the injured man, scanning to make sure no enemies come
from behind. In a split second, the pressure in the room greatly exceeds that
of the outside, and the concussion seems to be felt before the blast is heard.
Marines outside rush to the room, and look in horror as the dust gradually
settles. The result is a room filled with the barely recognizable remains of
the deceased, caused by an insurgent setting off several pounds of explosives.
The Marines' remains are gathered by teary eyed comrades, brothers in arms,
and shipped home in a box. The families can only mourn over a casket and! a
picture of their loved one, a life cut short by someone who hid behind a white
flag. But no one hears these stories, except those who have lived to carry
remains of a friend, and the families who loved the dead. No one hears this,
so no one cares.
This is the story everyone hears:
A young Marine and his fire team cautiously enter a room just recently filled
with insurgents armed with AK-47's and RPG's. There are three dead, another
wailing in pain. The insurgent can be heard saying, "Mister, mister! Diktoor,
diktoor(doctor)!" He is badly wounded. Suddenly, he pulls from under his
bloody clothes a grenade, without the pin. The explosion rocks the room,
killing one Marine, wounding the others. The young Marine catches shrapnel in
the face. The next day, same Marine, same type of situation, a different
story. The young Marine and his cover man enter a room with two wounded
insurgents. One lies on the floor in puddle of blood, another against the
wall. A reporter and his camera survey the wreckage inside, and in the
background can be heard the voice of a Marine, "He's moving, he's moving!" The
pop of a rifle is heard, and the insurgent against the wall is now dead.
Minutes, hours later, the scene is aired on national television, and the
Marine is being held for committing a war crime. Unlawful killing.
And now, another Marine has the possibility of being burned at the stake for
protecting the life of his brethren. His family now wrings their hands in
grief, tears streaming down their face. Brother, should I have been in your
boots, I too would have done the same.
For those of you who don't know, we Marines, Band of Brothers, Jarheads,
Leathernecks, etc., do not fight because we think it is right, or think it is
wrong. We are here for the man to our left, and the man to our right. We
choose to give our lives so that the man or woman next to us can go home and
see their husbands, wives, children, friends! and families.
For those of you who sit on your couches in front of your television, and
choose to condemn this man's actions, I have but one thing to say to you. Get
out of you recliner, lace up my boots, pick up a rifle, leave your family
behind and join me. See what I've seen, walk where I have walked. To those of
you who support us, my sincerest gratitude. You keep us alive.
I am a Marine currently doing his second tour in Iraq. These are my opinions
and mine alone. They do not represent those of the Marine Corps or of the US
military, or any other.
Sincerely,
LCPL Schmidt
Welcome to the GBRC Blog
Hey and Welcome!
As there will not be a December meeting, I thought this BLOG would be a good way to continue communicating with our group. We've had so many excellent events lately - our Party for the President, our Convention Night Party, our very successful Bluffton Blitz, our Election watch Party, and Finally our recent VICTORY Party, we thought that after all that "hard work", we'd take the month of December off from an actual meeting, but of course we won't take off from staying in touch and sharing articles, emails, pictures, etc.
Please let us know by email if you would like to become a member of the blog. This will be a great way of staying abreast of what goes on here in Bluffton as well as the County, the State, and hopefully will establish ties with our representatives in DC, or at least with their local offices:)
During this month, besides the holiday excitement and business, please be thinking of at least one new conservative you can bring to our January meeting. This GBRC has potential up the wazzoo!! Let's let it roll.
Thanksgiving Blessings to you all,
Dawn Duff
